Arsenal

On December 11, 1886, Dial Square romped to a 6-0 victory over Eastern Wanderers; the first game in their initial guise. Shortly afterwards the name ‘Royal Arsenal’ was adopted.

Arsenal’s success was steady throughout the latter part of the 19th century and their league position improved until they achieved promotion to Division One in 1903. Three years later they reached the Semi-Final of the FA Cup two seasons running. However, Plumstead was not the ideal site for Arsenal and with the financial situation worsening and relegation threatening, up stepped Fulham chairman Henry Norris.Norris recognised the need for a move, ear-marking Highbury as a suitable site. And, after relegation in 1913, the Club moved to its new home. Within two years of the move, ‘Woolwich’ was dropped from their title and the Club became known as ‘Arsenal FC’. At the end of World War One the First Division was increased by two clubs, of which Arsenal were one. And under the guidance of new manager Leslie Knighton, Arsenal spent the first six seasons of peacetime achieving some moderate success. Chairman Norris wanted more and, in 1925, he advertised for a new manager.

CLUB'S FIRST SHIRT

Working to a tight budget, the Club decided the most inexpensive way of acquiring a strip was to kit out the team in the same colour as the ex-Forest players. This original kit was a dark red, with long sleeves, a collar and three buttons down the front. The shirt was worn with white knee length shorts and heavy woollen socks with blue and white hoops. The goalkeeper wore the same attire apart from the shirt - which was a hand knitted cream woollen polo neck jumper. It was this dark red kit that the team wore during their first season at Highbury in 1913/14.

HIGHBURY

It was Henry Norris who decided to move the Club from The Manor Ground in Plumstead to North London. In a bid to revive the Gunners fortunes, and to increase the supporter base, Norris decided to move the Club. After originally sounding out sites at Battersea and Harringay, he decided on a plot of land in Highbury, the site of the playing fields of St John’s College of Divinity. Despite local opposition to the move, from residents and other north London football clubs, the deeds were signed early in 1913.In a fitting send off, Thierry Henry scored a hattrick as Arsenal beat Wigan Athletic 4-2 to secure a UEFA Champions League spot, at the expense of North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

THE WENGER'S YEARS

Arsène Wenger arrived at Highbury in October 1996 after notable success at Monaco and a stint in charge of Japanese side Grampus Eight. He was the Club’s first boss from outside the UK. Arsenal finished third that season but the new manager would officially announce his arrival in his first full campaign at the helm. At one stage in 1997/98 the Gunners trailed leaders Manchester United by 11 points. However, imperious form throughout the second half of the campaign saw Arsenal crowned Premier League champions with two games to spare. Within two weeks, the Gunners had added the FA Cup, securing the Double in Wenger’s first full season in charge.  The Frenchman was meticulous in his squad construction, adding the likes of Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Petit and Marc Overmars to a team already boasting Arsenal institutions like David Seaman, Tony Adams and Dennis Bergkamp. Henry signed in August 1999, after Arsène Wenger’s side had been denied back-to-back titles by one point by Manchester United in the previous May. Arsenal completing an unbeaten title campaign and going on to eclipse Nottingham Forest's long-standing run of League games without defeat. Played 49, Won 36, Drawn 13, Lost None - that Arsenal side was truly 'Invincible'.

49 UNBEATEN

Arsenal went a record 49 consecutive top-flight league games unbeaten from May 2003 to October 2004, breaking Nottingham Forest's previous record of 42 set between November 1977 and November 1978.

LIFE OF A FOOTBALLER

Some of footballers become a legend, some don't. They are judge from their skills and creativity. Players improve day by day, all players want to be a legend. For them, football is their hobby, life and everything. They are a lot of player that had become a successful footballer. Like Zinedine  Zidane, Ronaldhino, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima,Theirry Henry, Robert Pires, Tony Adams and many more, but they are the past.

I'm going to tell you about gardener's son, Cristiano Ronaldo. He's one of a good footballers example. He's started from bottom and become a professional footballer, also a legend in making. Even thought he used to play for Manchester United, I'm still his big fan 'Since he joined Real Madrid'. Cristiano Ronalo is the most hated player in the world and has many fans.

LIFE STORY OF CRISTIANO RONALDO

Ronaldo was the younger child of the Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro who is a cook and José Dinis Aveiro who is a municipal gardener.  He was born in Santo António, February 05, 1985, which is a Funchal’s neighborhood at Madeira.  His name Ronaldo was derived from U.S President Ronald Reagan who was a favorite actor of his father.  Ronaldo has two sisters that were older named Liliana Catia and Elma.  He has one brother who is older named Hugo.  The great grandmother of Ronaldo is Isabel Da Piedade who was from Cape Verde.Ronaldo’s childhood was passed in a neighborhood of working class.  He was lived in a tin roofed small home that is overlooked by the ocean.  Ronaldo’s life was very hard in his early days.  He father was a gardener who drank so much; and in year 2005, his father died because of kidney problems. His early life was shaped by hardship; his father, a gardener, often drank too much, and eventually died from kidney problems in 2005.  To improve the financial status and to fed the children, mother of Ronaldo worked as a cleaner and cook.Ronaldo came to know about the soccer game through the occupation of his dad as an equipment manager in the Boy’s club.  After becoming 10 years old, Ronaldo just become a phenomenon kid who only live for the soccer game that is who slept, drank and ate game.Father of Ronaldo died because of the liver related problem due to alcoholism at age 52 in the year 2005 when the Ronaldo was at age 20. On 3rd July 2010, Ronaldo become a father of son.  He requested his official sites like facebook and twitter for privacy as these sites give the reference of birth of his son.  Ronaldo named his child as Cristiano.

FOOTBALL LIFE

At just 12 years old Cristiano moved 600 miles to Lisbon, which is on the mainland of Portugal, to play for Sporting Lisbon's youth team. The move was a difficult one for Cristiano, since he was away from his family and many of his teammates made fun of his Madeiran accent. While some kids chose to tease Cristiano about his accent, no one was teasing him about his soccer skills. His dazzling footwork and goal-scoring abilities made him a teenage super-star. He played his first game for Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese Super League when he was 17 and quickly became known as one of the most exciting young soccer players in the world.

BECOME A MILLIONAIRE

Cristiano's talent caught the eye of Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson, who bought him from Sporting Lisbon for a mind-boggling $20 million US! Cristiano had great success playing for both Manchester United and for Portugal. He scored the opening goal for Manchester in their 2004 FA Cup victory and helped Portugal advance to the finals at Euro 2004. In 2009, Manchester United accepted an offer of 80 million pounds (that's over $120 million US!) from Spain's Real Madrid soccer team for Cristiano, who had apparently made it known he wanted to leave England for Spain.

No matter what team he's on, Cristiano's fabulous footwork and good looks have made him one of the most popular players in Europe. He's a millionaire at a very young age, when he was 20 years old, he drives expensive Ferrari cars and he's been linked to famous American celebs like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.

This guy never give up. He is an awesome footballer. Started from the bottom , now he is at the top.

History

FOOTBALL

There are many sports in this universe. One of the famous sport is Football.  Early evidence of soccer being played as a sport finds occurrence in China during the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC. In China, it was during the Han dynasty that people dribbled leather balls by kicking it into a small net. Recorded facts also support the fact that Romans and Greeks used to play ball for fun and frolic. Some facts point to Kyoto in Japan where kicking of ball was a popular sport. It is said that during medieval times, the old form of soccer used to allow many ill practices like kicking, punching, biting and gouging. The main aim was to carry the ball to a target spot. People grew so fond of the game that they would throng the field all day long. Sometimes the competition grew fierce and masses got so wild that there were frequent incidents of violence during the game.

King Edward III banned soccer in 1365 owing to the growing incidents of violence and military indulgence in the sport. In 1424 King James I of Scotland also proclaimed in the Parliament— "Na man play at the Fute-ball" (No man shall play football). When and where exactly did soccer start is a question that has no precise answer to it. You can easily say that this popular game has been played for more than three thousand years. The nativity of modern-day soccer must be credited to Britain. It was also known as the association football, with Scotland and England being the co-founders of the systematic game of soccer.

Modern History

Firmly establishing the foundation of soccer in 1869, the Football Association strictly banned any kind of handling of the ball. Soccer’s popularity spread rapidly during the 1800s as British sailors, traders and soldiers introduced the sport to different parts of the globe. Italians, Austrians and Germans drew to Europe, while Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil adopted the sport in South America. FIFA was established in the year 1904 and by early 1930s, different leagues were operating from various countries. FIFA is credited with organizing the first world cup in Uruguay. The history of soccer is rich with events, development and its growing craze all over the world. You will find yourself amazed as you learn about different times of this wonderful sport that has held our awe and admiration for over 3000 years.
